Convention Countdown: 3 Weeks!

It's hard to believe that the Summer Convention is only three weeks away.  If you haven't already registered, it's not too late. Follow these links to register or read about this year's convention.

If you have not yet booked your hotel, the Ramada is full.  Overflow guest rooms are available at the Senate Luxury Suites (901 SW Tyler, Topeka, KS).  The room rate is $83 per night plus tax and includes full hot breakfast buffet.  Reservations will be accepted at the group rate until June 30.  To make reservations, please contact Senate Suites at 785.233.5050 and mention KCDA.

WSU: Summer Choral Clinic

Join the WSU Choral Faculty for our Summer Choral Clinic

Join the WSU choral faculty for an exciting workshop that includes fifteen one-hour presentations on a wide variety of topics that impact the choral classroom.  Topics include: Teaching Cycles, Score Study, Warm-ups, Sight-reading, Spiritual Performance Practice, Voice Development, History/Stylistic Awareness, IPA and Choral Diction, Recruiting, Administration/Faculty relations, and MORE!
Participants will engage in informative and entertaining sessions designed to help with real-world teaching.  They have the opportunity to read through historically representative repertoire.  They can “pick the brains” of multiple presenters with a wide array of choral conducting experience. 
The workshop takes place June 25-27, 2014.  Graduate credit is available!

Kauffman Center Future Stages Festival

On Sunday, June 22, the Kauffman Center will present the Future Stages Festival, an extension of the Kauffman Center’s Open Doors Spotlight on Youth program.  The festival features twenty four groups from the Kansas City area, including ensembles directed by three KCDA members: The Lawrence Children's Choir (Carolyn Welch, Artistic Director), and Voices of Change Young Men's Choir (Eli Jones and Leayn Losh, Directors).
