Bethany College is once again hosting the Bethania Pre-Audition Choral Workshop, September 25th, 2014 . Registration is FREE and lunch is provided for directors and students. Rehearsals begin at 8am and finish up at 2:30. Register by clicking here.

Wichita State University:  Friday, October 3, 2014
The Annual WSU All-State workshop to learn the audition selections is Friday, October 3.  Registration in Wiedemann Hall begins at 8:30am and concludes at 3:00pm.  Throughout the day participants will sing in a variety of section rehearsals with the WSU voice and choral faculty.  The workshop is free, but students are responsible for their own lunch.  To participate, directors must email a list of their students and their assigned voice parts one week prior to the event to tom.wine@wichita.edu.  More detailed information can be found here.

Kansas City Kansas Community College: October 25, 2014KCKCC will host their annual All-State Audition Rehearsal on Saturday, October 25 from 10am-12pm in the Choir Room.  This event is free of charge. Both students and instructors are welcome to join. Please contact Prof. Stafford at 913.288.7137 or jstafford@kckcc.edu to register for the event.

Treble Honor Choir Auditions

Greetings!

I am Christine Freeman, and will again be coordinating the Kansas Statewide Treble Honor Choir.  I would also like to introduce you to my co-chair, Josh Wildin.  Hopefully, you have already checked out all the information on the KCDA website, www.kansaschoral.com/treble-honor-choir.html.  If not, I would like to invite you to look into this fabulous opportunity for your unchanged voice singers!

All students participating in a choir of KCDA members in grades 5-9 with unchanged voices are eligible to audition.  Please note that students MAY NOT audition for both the KCDA Treble Honor Choir AND the KMEA Middle Level Honor Choir.  Please choose the choir that is most appropriate for your singer and submit an audition for only one honor group.  

Selected students will prepare five pieces to rehearse and perform with a recognized clinician at the KMEA In-Service in Wichita on February 27.  

This year, all auditions will be submitted electronically.  Electronic submission guidelines will be available in the next week. 

All electronic submissions of your students' auditions must be submitted before 11:59 pm on Friday, October 3, 2014.  The deadline is one month away!  All the information you need can be found on the KCDA website.  Details for recording the auditions can be found on the Audition Guidelines link on the webpage.  Please read them thoroughly to avoid disqualification of your students' auditions.

Our clinician is Meredith Bowen, DMA candidate at Michigan State.  She is an active clinician and has been the Artistic Director for both the Battle Creek Girls Chorus and Battle Creek Community Chorus. We are so fortunate to bring her to Kansas to work with our kids!

Condolences

Please keep KCDA board member Amy Brown in your thoughts and prayers following the loss of her mother, Nancy Smith. Nancy passed away following a tragic car accident on August 13.  The family requests that donations be made in her honor to Lutheran Church Charities - LCC K9 Comfort Dog Fund (www.LutheranChurchCharities.org).
