About the Concert
Join the WSU Women's Glee Club and Madrigal Singers for their final concert of the academic year!
Women's Glee Club presents a wide variety of music about the trials and tribulations of love, beginning wtih A. P. Carter's "When I'm Gone," popularized by the recent movie, Pitch Perfect.  The concert continues with three movements from Johannes Brahms' Liebeslieder Walzer and an arrangement of Bizet's Ouvre ton Coeur.  Rounding out the performance are David Child's setting of I Am Not Yours and Susan Borwick's gospel-flavored Ain't I a Woman.
In the Madrigal Singers' program, entitled "Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery," the singers use their voices to create animal sounds, mimic orchestral instruments, and present images of motion.  Using the music of Eric Whitacre, the ensemble presents a series of images in Animal Crackers.  French composer Janequin wrote a delightful madrigal using nonsense syllables to create sounds of birds in the charming Chant des Oyseaux.  After songs about spinning wheels and music teachers, the concert closes with a collection of British folk songs accompanied by vocal instrumental sounds in The Humpty Dumpty Medley.
