The Summer Singers of Lee’s Summit is the newest ensemble of the William Baker Choral Foundation, Inc., which was created in Atlanta in 1990, and now sponsors ten musical ensembles based in three states.  Each year these ensembles involve over 500 men, women, and youth in the celebration of great music.
The Summer Singers of Kansas City was formed in 1999. The summer-only chorus of 150 voices begins rehearsals in early June of each year and holds 8-10 rehearsals in a fun workshop setting with an emphasis on experiential learning. The 2014 Summer Singers of Kansas City will join with distinguished solosits and members of the Kansas City Symphony in an all-Handel program featuring the DETTINGEN TE DEUM, and two CORONATION ANTHEMS: “Let They Hand Be Strengthened” and Zadok the Priest”. Performances will be Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, August 16 and 17.  Rehearsals begin Tuesday, June 3rd.
The 2014 Summer Singers of Lee’s Summit will join with distinguished soloists and a chamber orchestra of players from the Kansas City Symphony to perform Mozart’s MISSA BREVIS IN D, K194.  There will be one performance on Sunday, July 27th.  Rehearsals begin Thursday, June 5th.
NO AUDITION is required for membership in the Summer Singers of Kansas City or Lee's Summit, but music reading ability is a must.  Choral experience is highly recommended.  All adults and mature youth are invited to participate.  (Youth under 16 may participate only if a parent or guardian is also a registered member of the Summer Singers.)
